Ray Ginley is back in boxing

Ray Ginley has returned to boxing, but will now be seen in the corner rather than in the ring.

The Belfast fighter was a talented super middleweight puncher, who pushed his record to 6-0 with four knockouts before hanging up his gloves at the tender age of 21.

Two years later and ‘Sugar Ray’ is still somewhat involved in the sport, but more at a fitness and amateur level, and the Oliver Plunkett’s man is the proud business owner of RG Strength and Fitness.

However, Irish-Boxing.com has learnt that the 23 year old will return as professional coach.

Ginley has already started working with Irish title hopeful Gerard Healy [5(0)-4(1)-1] and a number of young fighters considering turning over.

Part of a new breed of younger, more scientific boxing coaches, Ginley has also been recently working with Mick Conlan.

The West Belfast man will work with his older brother, Mark, going forward. The elder Ginley is a registered manager and cutsman.
