Katie Taylor will fight in Madison Square Garden on St Patrick’s Weekend next year.

Speaking today in Dublin at the press conference to launch Taylor’s debut against Karina Kopinska this Saturday, promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that the Bray super featherweight will have her fourth professional fight in New York.

Hearn outlined how Taylor will box on Saturday March 18th at the Madison Square Garden Arena on the undercard of none other than Kazakh middleweight king Gennady Golovkin. WBC, WBA, and IBF champ Golovkin will be defend the middleweight crown for a seventeenth time.

The Matchroom chief was in Las Vegas over the weekend for the Andre Ward v Serge Kovalev clash, and while there he thrashed out a deal with Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler.

The move solidifies St Patrick’s Weekend’s place as one of the biggest in recent memory for Irish boxing as Mick Conlan will headline on Friday 17th at the Theater at Madison Square Garden.

First however Taylor must negotiate the challenge of Kopinska at the Wembley Arena on Saturday, before an appearance on the Anthony Joshua v Eric Molina PPV undercard in Manchester on December 10th, and a further fight in late January or early February which will most likely take place in England.
