Conor McGregor spars with Dublin welter ahead of Mayweather showdown
Crumlin light middleweight Conor McGregor [0-0] is currently training in Dublin ahead of his professional debut in two months time.
Mixed martial artist McGregor, a two-weight champion with the UFC, takes on boxing legend Floyd Mayweather in a Las Vegas mega money clash on August 26th, live on Showtime PPV.
The Dubliner has drafted in extended sparring from Tyrone amateur Tiernan Bradley and Californian Dashon Johnson [22(7)-21(3)-3] as he looks to cause what most, although not the bookmakers, believe would be the the biggest upset in the history of boxing.
Before this sparring camp however, McGregor indulged in a spot of sparring with ‘The Negotiator’ Jay Byrne [5(1)-2(0)].
Byrne, who debuted a year ago last weekend, has had a busy start to pro life. The Loughlinstown welter raced to 4-0 before two distance defeats against top Matchroom prospects Felix Cash and Josh Kelly.
Byrne got back to winning ways last month against Pole Daniel Przewieslik before taking a short break to help heal a hand fracture. Returning to the ring at the start of last week, Byrne found himself in the ring with McGregor on Saturday evening.

Byrne is gearing up for a big end of the year and the fighter, who shares a great working relationship with Eddie Hearn, has spoken of two potential title fights.
