Celtic Warriors to fight in America on same night as Frampton

While Carl Frampton is fighting for the WBA featherweight title in New York, three other Irish boxers will also be in U.S. action 400 kilometers up the road.

Celtic Warriors Gym trio Gary O’Sullivan, Luke Keeler, and Niall Kennedy will fight on a Murphy’s Boxing card at the Plymouth Memorial Hall in Massacheustes.

While initially rumoured to be taking place on Friday the 29th, it will now go head-to-head with the Premier Boxing Champions card at the Barclays Centre.

For O’Sullivan it will be the Cork man’s first bout following his step down to light middleweight.

Keeler, whose place on the card is supported by Matchroom Promotions, will look to get back to winning ways after his loss to Tom Doran.

And Wexford heavyweight Kennedy will look to continue his unbeaten start to life in the pros.

The card in Plymouth is headlined by Murphy’s middleweight starlet Mark DeLuca, and a WBC Women’s welterweight World title fight between Aleksandra Magdziak Lopes and Szilvia Szabados.

Also featuring will be Greg Vendetti as well as a host of other Murphy’s prospects to-be-announced

Coach Paschal Collins will not be in the corner for the trio as he will be on this side of the Atlantic for yet another big fight involving an Irishman when Pajo Hyland takes on English featherweight star Josh Warrington.

It’s going to be a massive night for Irish boxing.
